Strings

Delete your Strings data

You don’t need an account to play Strings. Without one, your game data is stored with a random Player ID, and you can ask us to delete it at any time. If you backed up with an account, delete it on the delete-account page or in the app under Settings › Account › Delete account: that deletes it on every device.

The quickest way: in the app

  1. Open Strings and tap Settings.
  2. Under Support, tap Delete my data.
  3. Confirm, then send the email it prepares. It already includes your Player ID and the analytics ID we need, so there’s nothing to look up.

Older versions of Strings don’t have this row. In those, tap Help under Support, write “Delete my data” in the email and send it. Its subject already includes your Player ID.

Don’t have the app any more?

Use the form below, or email hello@stringsgame.com with “Delete my data” in the subject. Include your Player ID if you have it. Without it, tell us your display name and roughly when you last played, and we’ll do our best to find your data.

This opens your email app with the request filled in. Nothing is sent until you press Send there.

It’s the long code after “UUID:” in the subject of any email you sent from Settings › Support in the app. You can paste the whole subject line.

What we delete

  • Your profile: display name, avatar, title and leaderboard setting
  • Puzzle results, stats, streaks, trophies, progress and puzzle ratings
  • League and leaderboard records, friendships, invites and reports you filed
  • Your customer record at RevenueCat (our purchase provider)
  • Analytics data tied to your app installation in Google Analytics for Firebase
  • Tenjin measurement data, if Tenjin was enabled

What we keep

  • Purchase records we must keep for tax, accounting and disputes, for up to 7 years.
  • Database backups, until they expire (up to 7 days).
  • Data that Apple, Google and our ad partners hold under their own privacy policies.
  • Anything other players already shared themselves, such as a screenshot of a leaderboard.

Good to know

  • When: we delete your data within 30 days of a verified request and reply to let you know. We verify a request by matching the Player ID, or details only you would know.
  • Subscriptions keep running. Deleting your data does not cancel Strings Premium. Cancel it in your App Store or Google Play account settings.
  • Uninstalling isn’t deleting. Removing the app clears the data on your device, but not our copy. A reinstall usually starts fresh with a new Player ID.
  • Just want to be less visible? Turn off Show me on leaderboards in Settings › Privacy & community to hide your name and leave Leagues, without deleting anything.
